Germany is home to the largest pumpkin festival in the world. Pumpkins are referred to as Kürbis which means "squash," and is a fall staple that should be consumed in mass quantities. The festivals display around 450,000 pumpkins which include programs like chainsaw carving competitions, pumpkin boat races, pumpkins on the menu, and smashing giant pumpkins.

The fall sky gets illuminated by these two mesmerizing festivals of lights. The city sparkles in the magical light from 45 of Berlin's most iconic landmarks and historic buildings, organized by national and international artists. The lights are switched on from 7 p.m. till 1 a.m. every night. These events also feature laser light shows and projections that transform the iconic sites into dreamy visions.
Frankfurt Book Fair

Frankfurter Book Fair is the most visited and the world's largest trade fair for books. This event is the paradise for book lovers, publishers, translators, and authors. The year 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of this fair, and it is expected to pull in a crowd of 286,000 visitors to preview over 400,000 books from 100 countries. Apart from the display of books, the festival hosts readings, exhibitions, concerts, and also films.

October 31 is commemorated as the religious holiday of Reformationstag ("Day of Reformation").On this day, Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the Wittenberg Castle Church door in the year 1517. This initiative brought forth the Protestant Reformation and significant changes in the church and society in Germany. Events on Reformation Day are submissive, but the recent 500-year-anniversary was celebrated in the most joyful manner declaring it as a public holiday.
